Late this afternoon I returned to State College, Pa., for my second Penn State MacAdmins Conference running through Friday of this week. In just a few minutes I was running into friends from last year and chatting like we were picking up on conversations from yesterday. The Mac Admin community is spread far and wide but at the same time it’s very close.
I remarked last year how this was a very human tech conference and attendees who heard me say that seemed to know exactly what I meant and they agreed. It feels like a family reunion.
This year my immediate family has gotten a lot bigger. I’m here with four good friends who made the trip with me from Minnesota, all of whom are part of our new Twin Cities Mac Admins group. We’ve talked about it, we’ve planned it and now we’re here. If you get a chance, look for these guys and say hi: Brad, Bryson, John and Josh.
Another new family member happens to live here in State College and he took all of us out this evening for a tour of the town and to a local brewpub. He’s attending the conference too. If you see David from Apple, be sure to say hi to him too. And poor Phil—my 318 co-worker and buddy from Tennessee—is stuck tonight in Philly after traveling through Chicago where they had several flights delayed or cancelled due to weather. He’ll be in tomorrow afternoon, but I wish he were here now with the rest of us.
I get to present two sessions this year. Like last year, I’ll give a couple of teasers.
Administering Office 2016 for Mac – Wednesday, July 8, 3:15-4:30 p.m.
iOS – Reconnect the Cord – Thursday, July 9, 10:45 a.m. to Noon
I’ll post full session slides as well as links to the video presentations when they’re made available.
